Peter Phillips - a stag at Gurnard Bay
A stag do on the Isle of Wight with Prince William and Prince Harry, plus Mike Tindall and a couple of dozen other rowdies was never going to be a sedate affair for Peter Phillips.
Let’s put it this way, I’m glad I’m not one of them right now — Monday morning. At one point Peter was said to have gone AWOL, only to be found slumped in a shop doorway.
Asked later how he was coping with the weekend, he replied ruefully, “I’m still alive.â€
Harry said, “It’s been an awesome stag do. It will just take us a while to recover.â€
Peter is due to marry Autumn Kelly at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 17. It was probably well advised to hold the pre-nuptial bacchanal well in advance of the event. Let’s hope he recovers in time.
At some point a stag do should have a veil discreetly drawn over the activities of its participants, if only to preserve public decency. As an example, the Daily Mail piece contains more information than many of us might like to know, but read it here if you really want the gory details.

Makes my head hurt just thinking about those hangovers. Sounds like William enjoys showing his boxers!

I can’t wait for the Daily Mail’s report on Autumn Kelly’s hen party.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. I’m just surprised no one got sick with alcohol poisoning.

I also hope that wasn’t permanent black marker pen either - not sure how he would go about daily life with drawn on glasses and moustache this week!

I am glad the groom and his Royal cousins had a high old time, as is the tradition! I hope someone had the sense to pour them the ‘hair of the dog’ libation the morning after.
My guess is that a number of the fellows are saying “Never again!” That will last a week or so, I figure.

am glad they had a good time - a preview perhaps of william’s stag when the time comes…?

It’s interesting that Clarence House lists this engagement for yesterday, Monday :
“Prince William and Prince Harry, Royal Patrons, City Salute Appeal, will visit the Defence Medical Services Rehabilitation Centre to meet staff and patients in advance of the forthcoming City Salute event on 7th May, Headley Court, Epsom, Surrey.”
Imagine doing a public engagement like that following the weekend they spent at Peter Phillips’s stag party.
Awesome.

Let us hope it did not require them to rise and shine in the early hours of the morning! This is the stuff of which legends are made.
By Gigi on April 15th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
They probably needed rehabilitation themselves, Gigi, so it could have been the right place to go.

LOL! Cute, John. You are hilarious!

Arthur, here the “hen parties” are called “bachelorette parties,” to relate to the men’s pre-wedding fete, which is called the “bachelor party,” but a rose by any other name, after all….

I may have asked this before, so please forgive me: Is there going to be a Catholic priest at the wedding of Peter and Autumn?
By Carol on April 17th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Carol, that will almost certainly be the case as we know Peter will renounce his title to the Throne.
By John on April 17th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
John, I know we have discussed this before, but is there any hope at all that Peter will accept a title from the Queen upon his marriage?
By Gigi on April 17th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I hope so, Gigi, but I suspect it may be unlikely. On the other hand, the Queen may think a minor title — an Earldom, say, would be appropriate. I think that would be so. We can only wait and see.
By John on April 17th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
I just hope the Queen offers him something appropriate and that he accepts it. I do not approve of the children of a reigning monarch being plain Mr. or Ms. It seems wrong, somehow, for Peter and Zara to be without titles when all their cousins are titled. Even Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, although possessing the minor title of Earl and Countess, have expectations of one day being the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. By the way, John, when that day comes, will their daughter, Lady Louise, become Princess Louise of Edinburgh? I was just wondering. I am hopeful that we are able to see lovely photographs of the christening of James, the newborn son of the Earl and Countess Wessex, which I understand is to take place quite soon.
By Gigi on April 18th, 2008 at 12:17 am
Yes, Gigi, their children will automatically assume a portion of the titles of their parents.
I haven’t heard about the christening yet, but as you say, it must be soonish, unless James’s health problems persist, which I don’t believe they have.

Thank you, John.
