Is Chelsy Davy seeing someone else?
Rumours abound as Chelsy Davy breezed into Heathrow, apparently on her way back to Leeds University, where’s she’s a post-grad in business and law.
The conspicuous absence of Prince Harry at the airport has drawn a lot of speculation, but none more so than Chelsy’s private life. Mention is made of a liaison with “a certain rugby player at Leeds Carnegie”, and another hints darkly that Chelsy is not back in Britain “to see the hapless Harry”.
We can only await developments on this one. Harry may be on special duties with the Army and simply not available for social activities right now.
Kate Middleton
Meanwhile, back in the Home Counties, Prince William’s girl Kate has been spotted at the O2 Arena (think Millennium Dome) watching the hit show Afrika, Afrika, featuring wonders like the Snake Girl contortionist and a man who wriggles bodily through the head of a tennis racket. Rivetting stuff, doubtless.
It’s said that William asked some close friends to accompany her to the show. They were the ubiquitous Guy Pelly — with girlfriend Susanna Warren — and Thomas van Straubenzee.
Kate dazzled the crowd with her leopard-print outfit in her trademark black and white. The event shows yet again how attentive William is to her comfort while he’s away at RAF Cranwell training to be a pilot.

Well, John, this is a new wrinkle entirely! I shall await further details regarding Chelsy’s Leeds Carnegie rugby player. To many people, however, Chelsy shall cease to be interesting if she is no longer associated with Prince Harry. Maybe that is what she wants, and end to the publicity of life in the Royal circle, but somehow I doubt it.

Yes Kate looked very good that night and it’s wonderful to see her and William’s friends out and watching over her while he’s on training.

What an amazing dress sense Kate has, her animal print dress with matching handbag,so appropriate for the Afrika Afrika evening.

I’m glad to see that Kate is in the news for a social event that didn’t involve an abundance of alcohol. It’s also good that she can enjoy an evening out with friends, without William.

Chelsy will always be interesting. She seems to be a young lady who is full of energy, caring, and genuinely nice. I hope that she will get back with Prince Harry. It seems like Chelsy really does care about him. You can see it in her face when she looks at him.
I am glad that she is safely back in England. Also, I see that Prince William’s friends are keeping Kate company. It must be very hard not being able to see him whenever she wants. It sounds like Prince William loves flying. However, I hope that time goes quickly so that he and Kate can have some time together.

I’m sure William and Kate do see each other on the weekend. His training is only Monday through Friday. It does sound like a rather grueling schedule, though, so I’d guess that W&K choose relaxing activities when they are together, rather than out partying until all hours.
By Evelyn on January 19th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
John, it’s good to see Kate out and about with friends. The Afrika! Afrika! show certainly sounds interesting and exciting! I’m not fond of animal prints so I’ll reserve judgement on what I can see of Kate’s dress, but I have seen some photos of her at the usual online photo sites, and she looked very lovely with a sophisticated black coat over the dress and nice black pumps.
I would like to offer one little correction John, the Van Straubenzee brother with Kate isn’t William, it’s actually Thomas. Thomas Van Straubenzee is one of Prince William’s great friends from his Eton days, and he along with Guy Pelly and other of William’s friends have accompanied Kate to other functions and nights out when William wasn’t able to be present himself.
I believe it’s one way that William looks after Kate and assures himself that she is safe and enjoying herself, even in his absence.

It’s also very nice to see that Chelsy is safely out of Kenya, back in the U.K. and headed to university in Leeds. I have every confidence that she and Prince Harry either have already resumed or will resume their relationship very soon.
They seem to be very well suited to one another, and even though they’re young, they seem to be very much in love. I think the break up between Chelsy and Harry was just the normal type of hiccup that can occur when a couple are as young as Harry and Chelsy.
I’m a little older than Harry (I’m in the same age group as Prince William), and I can attest that no matter how much in love you are, sometimes you slip up and make a mistake of one kind or another. IMO it’s a part of the maturation process of life to experience a couple of bumps in the road of even in the most perfect of relationships.

Well how does anyone know that William asked his friends to accompany Kate? It sounds to me like everyone thinks Kate has no friendships of her own within this circle and they are only there because of William. As for Chelsy and Harry I think they are on a forced separation not one of their own making and once Harry resurfaces from wherever he is training or fighting they will be together and stronger than before.

It could be that these people are also Kate’s friends. I imagine that since William and Kate have been together so long they have friends in common. Also, with William in training, it is nice that Pelly and all could accompany Kate to this event. They might have wanted to get Kate out for a night to have some fun knowing that she would be missing William. I thought it to be an extremely nice gesture. Maybe William did ask them to go with her. In any case, I was glad that she got to go. She did look like she was enjoying herself.

Maybe the evening out was the friends’ late birthday gift to Kate.

Mapleleaf, you’re right, it was Thomas. Thanks for the heads up.

John, normally, I love reading your site and I still do. However, the “Mention is made of a liaison with “a certain rugby player at Leeds Carnegieâ€, and another hints darkly that Chelsy is not back in Britain “to see the hapless Harry,— is taken from a source in the comments section. I don’t think it’s fair to demonstrate as anything more than that. Anyone could make that baseless comment and attaching to someone like Chelsy. With her blond hair, fun-loving personality along with the way media portrays her it is easy to attach that unfair assumption on her.
Besides, last time I heard that have been back together (for months) and could not be together because of Harry’s army commitments. I am a supporter of William and Kate and Harry and Chelsy. For some odd reason, the on-off nature of William and Kate relationship has extended to Harry and Chelsy. While both couples have had their troubles and have broken up and gotten back together, Harry and Chelsy’s relationship has been significantly less on-off, this is even more clear remembering that they have dated longer than William and Kate.

Off topic: in light of Burrell being taken apart by Lord Justice Baker and changing his story about having a ‘final secret’ amd a ’secret diary’ at least twice, is it fair to assume he no longer has credibility?
By Kit on January 20th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Wasn’t Kate to be given bodyguards? In pictures I’ve seen recently, none seem to be around . . .
By Ameilia on January 20th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Paul Burrell should have remained in Florida!
By Arthur on January 20th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
In the pictures taken the other night at the Afrika! Afrika! event, Kate is shown with a couple. ( a woman with blond hair and a blue suit and a man with dark hair and a suit) Who are they? I was just wondering.
By kat on January 20th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
According to our fearless leader, John, they are, left-to-right, Suzanna Warren, Guy Pelly, Kate Middleton and Thomas Van Straubensee. The two young men are close friends of Prince William and the young woman, Suzanna Warren, is Guy Pelly’s girlfriend.
By Gigi on January 21st, 2008 at 12:15 am
Kit, Paul Burrell was shown to be a liar and an obsessive self-publicist, as many of us knew he was. He’s made around $15m out of Diana’s reputation, something he swore to protect.
He also admitted that he lied about the Queen talking about “dark forces of which we know little” — a phrase which fed the whole conspiracy theory nonsense and led directly to this inquest. The “big secret” he was supposed to be keeping — which also fed the pregnancy and Dodi marriage lies — was nothing but her wish to live in America — which was well known by everyone interested.
Michael Cole — the Fayed press secretary, and formerly the Queen’s — was also exposed as a blatant liar in court. He and Mansfield are nothing more than consciences for hire.
Lord Justice Scott Baker has played a blinder here — and I take back what I said previously about him. He has ruthlessly exposed every lie and false statement, and still has the Harrod’s boss, who started it all, to question at the end.

Tulip, there have been other rumours along those lines. I’m merely reflecting them in the above post. I also say we won’t know the truth of it until they are seen out together and the murk of the long holiday clears : “We can only await developments on this one. Harry may be on special duties with the Army and simply not available for social activities right now.”
By John on January 21st, 2008 at 11:16 am
My own view on Harry and Chelsy is that it is over but I could be wrong.
I do think that Chelsy would finish her course in Leeds whether she is back wih Harry or not. I can only assume she has too much pride to have it said she only came to England for a man.
By Eliza on January 21st, 2008 at 12:21 pm
I understand what you say, John, but I think we have to be careful about branding Paul Burrell a liar. For one thing, if he is a liar, then his testimony that the members of the Royal Family are blameless in the death of Princess Diana is also bogus, and I doubt that is what is wanted.
On a much brighter note, see the wonderful photos of the Queen, dressed in bright pink, at sacred service in Norfolk, with the Duke of Edinburgh. I don’t like the black carcoat buttons, but the color is wonderful on her and she looks radiant! Prince Philip looks cranky, but I think that is just the expression he has when he is concentrating on something in the distance.
By Gigi on January 21st, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Suzanna and Thomas are pretty stunning IMHO. Wasn’t a member of the Van Straubenzee family in a car accident?

Several sources (The Daily Mail, The Sun) are reporting that Prince William has arranged for Kate to get some “lessons” in photography from Mario Testino. She’ll be working with him at his New York studio in March.
By Evelyn on January 21st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
How wonderful to know that Kate will work Mario. I know that Mario is very excited to work with hopefully the future Princess of Wales. You can tell that William & Kate are working hard towards their future. I do believe somethings that Paul Burrell said but I think he let Diana and her family down in many ways and he just have to deal with that. I also believe that this inquest is bringing out the true colors of the people that was involved in Diana’s life and that needed to happen. Even if we still don’t solve of what happened that night in Paris, this inquest is coming full circle.
By Claudius on January 22nd, 2008 at 7:01 am
Liars don’t lie all the time, Gigi.
Somethings are obviously true, others rely on personal testimony. That’s where he lied — he even admitted it, although he said it was an “error” that he claimed the Queen talked to him about “dark forces”. Okay, let’s call him an errorist.
I’ve been away from my desk for a while so haven’t caught up with the Mario Testino story yet.

Off Topic; I watched the ITV drama last night ‘The Palace’, its harmless enough reminded me of those 80s soaps like Dallas and Dynasty without the budget.
The William character seems to be a decent fellow who is doing his best to be a good king, the Harry character is a bit of a waster and has just been involved in a hit and run which obviously can’t be good but isn’t a bad guy underneath. The only evilish charactor I saw was the sister who is based on no one. The King’s mother wasn’t really in it last night so I can’t comment on her but I presume she is based on Diana.
The whole thing is nonsense and will cause no angst at CH.
It was quite funny to see some of the staff collecting toe nails etc to sell on the internet.
By Eliza on January 22nd, 2008 at 11:53 am
Ach, I missed it again, Eliza. From your description, I’m glad I did.
By John on January 22nd, 2008 at 12:00 pm
The program sounds a little off, to say the least!
By Gigi on January 22nd, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I’m in agreement with Eliza in thinking that Harry and Chelsy are over. I think her drunken, middle-of-the-night appearance at CH was the death knell.
I do hope Harry is well and safe.
