Cainer on the Royal Family

What do we make of this?

Royal Family

Jonathan Cainer, the man who writes the horoscopes in the paper edition of the Daily Mail (the online version uses someone else), is often described as “spookily accurate”.

He regularly writes forecasts of world events which, amazingly, turn out right. For example, after 9/11, Madrid and 7/7 he made the risky forecast that there would be no more terrorist attacks on the West. Three years later, there have been no successful attacks.

His general forecast for 2008 is very upbeat, despite all the economic gloom around. However, today he paints a different picture for the Royal Family :

Earlier in January, I said this year would be exceptionally important for the Royal Family. I didn’t say much more because there is an ethical constraint attached to this topic. An astrologer must never predict the date of someone’s death. Generally, Princes and Princesses ascend to the throne only when their predecessors pass away. I can’t, therefore, say when Charles will become King without revealing when Elizabeth will die. Actually, I am not sure that a succession is the big story in 2008. It may be some other issue or event. But whatever it is, it will be big.

Do you believe in astrologers? If so, what might this huge event turn out to be?

  1. So he is saying Queen Elizabeth won’t die this year or abdicate. Then the other big thing can only be a wedding, maybe pregnancy? Kate, Chelsy?

  2. Well, he says it may not be a succession, but he doesn’t rule it out. Maybe he has PP in mind. Let’s hope not. :(

  3. I hope not too and I don’t think that was what he was hinting at either, in the grand scheme of things if PP died it wouldn’t really be big news just very sad for the family and a funeral not even state ( if I remember previous posts correctly).

The only thing that would be big news would be William getting engaged and marrying. The idea of Kate getting pregnant before being married would be big news alright but I can’t see it happening.

As for Chelsy I think she is old news.

  4. Actually Charles dying would be big news. I feel eerie discussing anybodys death, lets hope the big news is happy news

  5. Eliza, he does shelter behind a death though, doesn’t he? Actually, if it were PP, that would be big news and it would be a state funeral. He is, after all second in protocol to the Queen.

Wills and Kate’s engagement though, would be a massive world story, and the country would be totally wedding bonkers again. Oh Gawd!!!

Still, plenty to write about on RA. :)

  6. I agree John, his comments are death-centred. If it were PP it would be a story in the same way the the Queen Mothers funeral was. The way he said big I take it to mean huge and it just wouldn’t be, not outside the normal royal watchers world- even if it was a state funeral, which I think he deserves.

  7. I don’t think it’s anything bad. I have a feeling that 2008 will bring lots of happiness. An engagement will be big this year, I believe. To think of someone’s death is very bad.

  8. You’re right, Claudius — it’s just the way he phrases it.

  9. The rumor I’ve heard is that the Queen is going to tour with the Spice Girls.

  10. I heard that too, Aunt Pierre. She will be called Poshest Spice. :)

  11. I am taking shelter behind my name and am also a died in the wool optimist and am plumping for an engagement and am fully prepared John to go totally wedding bonkers.
    Get the champers ready.

  12. I agree with Claudius that to think about a death, and to appear to forecast it publicly, is bad form, and, I must say, in the worst possible taste. Prince Philip’s funeral, when that occurs, and I hope not for years, will be on a par with that of Albert, the Prince Consort, I believe. As the beloved husband of the Queen Regnant, the funeral would be a State event of enormous significance. I hope, like Claudius, that we are all wrong about the astrologer eerily fixating on a death and that the event of huge importance he is forecasting is the engagement and wedding of Prince William and Kate. The only other event of enormous importance that I can think of is if the Queen should abdicate, and I feel sure that she will not do that. John, if the Queen should tour with the Spice Girls, she ought to be called Royal Spice! :)

  13. Hi John,
I’ve been reading your website for a while, and I really enjoy it. Any website that you can openly discuss Kate and Chelsy without jealous young girls (and probably some older ones too) trashing them makes me happy! Anyway, my question is this: What would happen if Kate Middleton were to get pregnant? Would they have to marry? Would the baby inherit the same “royalty” as if it were born in wedlock? I’m from the US, so I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to the rules and standards for Royals.

  14. Lauren, illegitimacy is a real problem for any Royal succession, so is rigorously avoided. If it happened, I’m sure steps would be taken.

  15. I believe Jonathan Cainer is hinting at a happy event, the birth of Charles’ and Camilla’s first child by a surrogate mother. The baby will be a girl which will complete Charles’ dream of having his own daughter. It is the 21st century, after all, so why shouldn’t Queen Elizabeth have a granddaughter born by surrogacy? The baby could be named HRH Princess Petri-dish! :)

  16. John, if the Queen should tour with the Spice Girls, she ought to be called Royal Spice!

Good idea, Gigi! Might keep Mrs. Beckham from getting miffed.

  17. This is spooky in that he is hinting there might be a succession. That rules out PP. But HM is in exellent health thank god. The only big event I can see in 08 is one of the Princes announcing their engagement. I am betting on William announcing it after Peter and Autumns wedding.

  18. Another thought could the big news be that Harry has achieved his dream of serving in Afghanistan? there has been no news of him as of late. Him serving and coming back safe would not only be big news but joyous that his dream has come realized.

  19. I’ve been reading this website for quite some time but have never commented. I’ve also been wondering what would happen if Kate became pregnant before marriage, but I wasn’t sure about introducing that topic. Obviously I’m not the only one with that question. It seems that with royals apparently living together before marriage that something like that is bound to happen eventually.

  20. Trudie, I’ve been wondering about Harry myself. He’s been off the normal radar for quite a while. And don’t forget that William is undertaking some mildly dangerous flying lessons.

Of course, JC may just have got it wrong. ;)

  21. Arthur, I get the impression that Camilla’s days of motherhood are long gone. And, if Charles had wanted more children he would have married someone younger. Tiggy, perhaps? ;)

  22. As I understand it, an illegitimate child can not be heir to the throne and so could not inherit the throne unless there was a change in the law.

  23. Even if Charles were to sire another child in wedlock, and even if that child was male, that child would not supercede Prince William or Prince Harry in the line of succession. Unless Prince William dies, God forbid, or abdicates, he will be King, and Prince Harry will be King after Prince William dies, if he dies without legal issue. One of the most hopeful things about the future, as I see it, is the near certainty that, in the fullness of time, one of Princess Diana’s golden sons will be King. I would be grateful if those who are responsible for the safety of the two young Princes take their responsibilites seriously and vouchsafe that no harm befalls them.

  24. People was feeding Diana some very crazy stories just to see what she would do with them. They tried to bring her down but it didn’t work. In the end Diana made peace with Charles and was looking for some happiness. Diana would have never done anything to hurt the Monarchy. I also feel that none of the crazy stories that is coming out of the inquest will hurt Diana reputation with the royal family nor her legacy. I just feel sorry for William & Harry to hear these stories. When someone predicts that something big will happen this year and it may be death, prayer comes to my mind. Very often the devil can put all kinds of things in your mind. I just pray that William, Harry and other members of the royal family stay safe and healthy. The only big thing I can think of is an engagement.

  25. You are right about the devil, Claudius, and right again about the power of suggestion. Prayer is always a good idea and the best option we have. I agree that Princess Diana would never have done anything to hurt the monarchy, especially because her own two beloved sons were uppermost in the line of succession. Let us all pray that God will continue to bless and protect the members of Britain’s Royal Family.

  26. Astrologers may be right some of the time but they are never right all of the time. I remember when Charles and Diana first got married, some presumably reputable astrologer predicted that after about 11 years of marriage, Diana would become very unhappy, there’ll be a divorce and she will remarrry a billionaire and would be happy. Events showed differently. Only God Almighty knows the end from the begining, therefore prayers on the royal family’s behalf are what is important.

  27. In the daily mail is was revealed that Diana was still in love with Charles. That’s really no surprise. Everybody should know that there was alot of love their between them but leave it to some royal experts, they will always tell a different story. Even though Charles has moved on with his life, talking about Diana is very painful for him and you can see the pain in his eyes when he’s at a event that envolves Diana. Even at her memorial service last year, he kept his head down throughout the service and he looked very sad. I just wish that people would write about their love for each other, even when their marriage went down in flames. That is the story that I want to hear.

  28. I dont think the prediction is about death, I dont think it’s an engagement iether. Pregnancy, no way-atleast not on williams part.He knows full well the consequences of a pregnancy w/o getting married first. As for harry, he and chelsy are still trying to patch things up.I think the prediction are 3 things-charles will step down as heir, giving way to william. second william may find someone else. and harry being deployed somewhere else.

  29. Also, I think 8/8/08 is significant….

  30. I don’t buy into astrology or fortune-tellers or any of the other soothsayers touting to know the future, but it seems to me that Mr. Cainer conveyed a definite sense of foreboding in his comments while trying to play them down at the same time. I don’t get the impression that he’s speaking of a happy event.

As to the Queen and her imminent role as Spice Girl, I rather like the name Windsor Spice or, as previously mentioned, Royal Spice. I hope HM doesn’t forget to pack the Nintendo Wii when she goes on tour. :) In reference to a previous post about THAT, I heard a scaled-down version of the story whereby HM simply enjoyed playing a few games of bowling on Nintendo Wii. I doubt that she’s an all-out Wii fiend, as some of the stories seemed to suggest, but I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that she might enjoy trying out a game or two with the younger ones in her family.

  31. [...] recently did a short piece on astrologer Jonathan Cainer’s apocalyptic forecast for the Royal Family in [...]

  32. As for the question of illegitimate issue, if HRH The Prince William were to have an illegitimate child, that child would not become a prince, even if his father were to become king, unless letters patent were issued to that end.

If HRH were to have an illegitimate child with a woman whom he later married, that child would be legitimated, but would not assume a place in the order of succession.

One need only look to previous examples to corroborate this, such as the four ducal sons of King Charles II, such as HG Charles Beauclerk, the 1st Duke of St. Albans.

Though I am pleased that there is no malice in anything that has been said here, I can’t help but feel that there is a certain inappropriate irreverence.

  33. Oliver, the Royal Family can be a little irreverent about themselves and others occasionally. It’s the British sense of humour, I expect. :)

  34. Being English, I’m fully aware of the British sense of humour, and I do not know of any instance to corroborate what you say.

  35. Who becomes next in line for the throne if Charles dies before the Queen? Is it William or Andrew?
