This is the stuff of what fairytales were made of.

Very true! I often think of how tremendously the royal wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip raised the spirits of war-weary Britain. In 1947 there were still many bomb-damaged buildings to be rebuilt, great austerity through the kingdom, and clothing, appliances, cars and many foodstuffs were still rationed. These royal celebrations with their pageantry, color and festival atmosphere give people hope for a brighter tomorrow. In this case, happily, the fairy tale did not fade in the harsh light of reality. I find the story of the Queen and Prince Philip and the life they have built together to be both touching and inspiring.

Trudie, didn’t the Archbishop of Canterbury recite almost these exact words at the wedding of Charles and Diana? It’s a shame that fariy tale didn’t work out; however, the Queen and Prince Philip have shown us all that it is possible to live happily ever after!

Oops, fairytale. All typos are the responsibility of my Thanksgiving Day food coma!

I wonder whose idea it was to invite Tiggey Legge-Bourke to the Queen and Prince Philip’s Thanksgiving Service at Westminster Abbey. I realize Tiggy was a nanny, of sorts, to William and Harry, after Charles and Diana separated, but I didn’t know she was that close to the Queen and Prince Philip to garner an invite to such a special celebration.

I wondered about that, too. I have a feeling that Charles slipped a few of his cronies into the Abbey when no one was looking. Or perhaps Prince William and Prince Harry wanted their former nanny invited to the service?

Tiggy is very popular with Charles, William and Harry. She helped to bring the boys up at a bad time and they remain close. She was also horribly traduced by Diana’s friends and the whole thing was brought up again recently in the inquest.
I think the Royal Family probably wanted to show their support.
