Prince Harry battles for Chelsy Davy

On Monday Chelsy Davy looked terrible. Her normally bright, cheery features were distinctly puffy and drooping like an old woman’s.

Chelsy Davy

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday, she collapsed with laughter as a photographer following her fell over, injuring his knee and breaking a camera lens. But at least it brightened Chelsy’s day.

Chelsy Davy

Contrary to tabloid reports, Prince Harry’s “former” girlfriend, now studying at Leeds University, has not quit college and flown home to South Africa. Wisely, she has decided to stay on to “clear her head”. She may well see things differently in a few days.

Susanna Warren However, Prince Harry has not given up on her. A source reveals that Guy Pelly’s 19 year-old girlfriend, Susanna Warren, is trying to broker a reconciliation between them. Susanna, who has become close to Chelsy, is a student at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, a short trip across the Pennines from Leeds.

A friend has said, “Susanna is trying to convince Chelsy to treat her planned trip home to South Africa as a short break and time to reconsider, rather than a move back home. Harry hasn’t given up hope. He is desperately trying to get Chelsy back and fight for their relationship but he thinks another girl will be better at softening Chelsy at the moment.”

Maybe the UN Security Council should be asked to intervene. After all, relations between England and South Africa may well be in jeopardy.

  1. I didn’t know that Guy Pelly had a girlfriend, but even so, is Chelsy so friendly with Guy Pelly and his associates that she would be persuaded by their advice and trust their opinions in this very personal matter? This whole thing seems odd to me. Not very long ago we were hearing that Guy Pelly’s behavior and his influence on the two Princes were considered a negative factor to be avoided and that such a view was shared quite strongly by both Kate and Chelsy. What has happened to change that?

  2. I hope Prince Harry is succesful, from what I have read he was the ‘guilty’ one, I just hope he sees the eror of his ways and wins her back. Whilst she is I believe quite a party animal herself it is also thought that she is the best prtson to keep him on the rails. So come on your royal highness work on it.

I have to say John, RA has been badly missed, to change the subject however where is Kate Middleton? She has come in for some bad press this week for being ‘unemployed’

    Nice to have you back.

  3. It must be very hard for William and Harry to conduct their relationships in the public eye. Every relationship has problems, but theirs are played out on the front pages. If they get back together they will most likely be call the “on/off again couple”, just as William and Kate are. The four of them have my sympathies, although I have to say I find something very immature with Chelsy getting so much amusement from the photographer injuring himself.

  4. I’m sure things will be fine between them. I wonder will Kate accompany William to The Queen & Duke of Edinburgh’s wedding anniversary party that Prince Charles is throwing fot them. I’m sure Harry would like Chelsy to be there as well. If things are alright.

  5. I’ve heard that “a senior Clarence House source” has said that the relationship is definitely over. JLP or PH?

There’s no doubt that Harry –who was told he might go to Afghanistan with his men last month, but was then refused — is now totally fed up with everything. Chelsy has her hands full with her postgrad degree and the difficulties she has with Leeds, so it’s hard to see how such young, on the edge, people can work this out.

At 22, Chelsy is not going to listen to a 19-year-old who associates with Guy Pelly, whom both Kate and Chelsy blame for leading their men astray.

It’s an explosive situation to put it mildly. :(

  6. If Harry really wants her back he needs to fight this for himself! They do seem to have a lot going on, but this would have been expected with so much new in their lives.

  7. You know John, I have never met these people and I’m sure they are all very nice but somehow I have faith in Harry and I really do think that he will do everything in his power to get Chelsy back. Even if he don’t get her back, I believe he will try. I kept my faith in William when he & Kate was going through their thing and look at them today, trying to make things work because they know it’s worth it. So who knows what will become of Harry & Chelsy. I know he’s really sad because now he don’t have a date to his own grandparent’s party.

  8. John, why does the MoD make promises to Prince Harry, get his hopes up only to dash them to the ground again? They are quite heartless to do so. This is a most unfortunate time for this to occur when Prince Harry already has relationship problems. He has to have something positive in his life, which is a need we all share. I would be grateful if the miliary High Command could make a decision, stick to it and stop waffling. I am quite put out about this! I do not want Prince Harry employed in harm’s way, but neither do I want him told conflicting stories about his future prospects. It is meretricious and depressing, to say the least. :(

  9. But, Gigi, it’s possible that it’s Harry who has been asking the MoD to let him serve where other British soldiers are serving. Harry would expect the military to look at those options carefully before saying “yes” or “no.” If so, I’m sure Harry has been hoping for a positive answer, so he’d naturally be disappointed with the negative.

I do think that if Harry and Chelsy will ever have a real future, Chelsy will need to come to terms with life in Britain– weather, paparrazzi, expectations, his family, and everything else. This would be difficult for a mature person, and I don’t think of Chelsy (or Harry) as mature yet. Given Harry’s track record, he isn’t mature yet, either. They both have to really want to make it work; healthy relationships take work on both sides.

  10. Gigi, the original decision was about Iraq, with Afghanistan left hanging in the air. Now that’s even more dangerous than Iraq, so Harry’s been dropped.

He now sees the other lieutenants going on training courses for the deployment while he’s left like a lemon in barracks, the only one of his rank there. It must be a total humiliation for him.

Given that both Harry and Chelsy are coping with massive personal problems, it’s not surprising things are not good between them.

  11. I think , it’s for the first time in all his adult life, that Harry meets up with a situation where he cannot get what he most urgently wants. Of course he is dissapointed, and not surprisingly, had a big row over it with his girl friend.

But why are there always some hasty commentators giving negative statements about his life style? Surely he can’t be simoultanly so weak, so drunk, so selfish, not to forget thoughtless, as he’s described in most publications.

We are still talking about Dianas son, who can’t have missed the sensitiveness of caracter and soul we all know she had and aboundantly.

Just give them time and space to work this out, to overcome the dissapointment of being rejected and misunderstod. I wish they could get away quietly for a while with no one looking over, just like William and Kate did.

They are so tightly followed by commentators, its without precedent. I wonder how did the queens own sons do, back in their early twenties? Surely they had girl friends and parties with no one pouncing on them at every turn, did they not?

  12. That’s true, Gena. They just have to get used to the spotlight. Kate seems to have done that. Chelsy is showing the strains.

  13. Yes true. But it does not surprise that she is having a hearty laugh at the sight of a photographer down on his knees.
Perhaps the same one that took that picture with the unflattering expression, earlier, eh? :))

  14. John, you seem to have an ear in the right places will you know if Kate has been invited to Prince Charles’ party for his parents wedding anniversary, or will it be public knowledge?

  15. That’s odd. I didn’t think Guy Pelly was the girlfriend type, if you know what I mean.

  16. I don’t think this is as bad as everyone else seems to… after all, they are so very young. It’s probably time to move on. You learn a lot about what you eventually want in a lifetime partner by dating when you are young, and they’ve been together for 3 years. A huge amount of time for a 22 year old girl.

Most likely she realizes he was a great first love, but not a great “last” love… if you know what I mean.

I wish them both a speedy emotional recovery, and true love when it is finally time for them to find it.

  17. It will be interesting to see what happens. They are young, but they are the age when many people in my generation, including myself, marred and started families. Of course this younger generation seems to wait until late twenties or even early to mid-thirties to marry, but that does not mean that the young Princes will do the same. Further, Chelsy has traveled, already has her undergraduate degree and Prince Harry has done rigorous training with the military. These experiences should have matured them to necessary levels for commitment with a life partner, if indeed they love each other enough to take that step. It may just be me, but there is something about Chelsy that typifies ‘college girlfriend’ to me, rather than life partner. Of course, she could turn out to be both, as I hope we shall learn that Kate Middleton shall be in the near future. I am hanging on every bit of news from the UK! :) If the news breaks in the middle of Thanksgiving weekend or even in the middle of the Texas-Texas A&M game, I shall race for the computer and access Royal Anecdotes, gobbler or no gobbler, Longhorns notwithstanding and the Devil take the Aggies! :)

  18. AAAUUUGGHHHH! I meant to type “married” not marred. :( My typos will be the end of us all, mark my words!

  19. Gigi! You must be well familiar with the Big 12 Conference, as am I! I am an Oklahoma State fan. What a game two weeks ago between OSU and your Texas Longhorns. It ended fabulously for Texas fans but it was quite the heartbreaking loss for Cowboys everywhere.

I never imagined I would discuss college football on RA. :)

I wish you well against the Aggies. Watch out for the “12th Man.”

  20. Thanks, Melissa! That was a thrilling game! That was some contest between Texas and OK State! Regarding the game between Texas and the Aggies, you will laugh at this, but a popular T-shirt that sells well in Austin around this time of year is a burnt orange shirt that reads “We only need 11 men!” :)

  21. Well Gigi, I’d say your match won’t be interrupted by any major news but if something breaks be assured you will be informed asap!

  22. Changing topics, it looks like The Sun (not the best source, I know) is reporting that Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly will marry in May at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. About 350 guests are expected. Rumor has it that Prince William may be best man.

  23. Well, that’s what we thought all along. Good news. And also that William will be his “supporter” — Royals don’t have best men. … Although I suppose Peter isn’t stricly Royal so he may use normal practice.

  24. Splendid news!! May will be a perfect month for the wedding and John was spot on with his prediction that the nuptials would be celebrated in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Let us hope that more details are forthcoming in the five and a half months remaining until the wedding day! As for Peter Philip’s status, I don’t care what title was denied him because of Princess Anne’s edict. He is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and as far as I am concerned, he is Royal! :) I hope the Queen bestows a title on Peter and Autumn when they marry. A Royal wedding in May!!! I can’t wait!!!

  25. Gigi, I echo those thoughts completely. It’s the first cold day of the season here. The merry month of May sounds a delicious prospect. :)

  26. The Sun also reported that the Queen offered Peter a title when he marries, but he refused it. But who knows if that’s accurate news or just idle gossip.

  27. My dear Evelyn, you are an absolute fountain of information!! I am delighted that the Queen has offered Peter Philips a title. If this offer has been made by the Queen and refused by Peter Philips, I am disappointed, naturally, but at least this refusal was his choice and his decision, as it should be.

My dear John, we are having our first cold weather here, too, and although I love the cold breezes and the opportunity to wear wool, I am sure that by New Year’s Day (if not before) I shall be shivering and yearning for the darling buds of merry May! I must say that whatever the weather, a Royal wedding will brace me splendidly for the entire year! How clever of the Queen to have seven grandchildren and four of them of an age to marry!! I am more grateful to Her Majesty than I can adequately express! :)

  28. John, do you or anyone know if the Anniversary service will air on BBC America on Tuesday? I just want to know if we will be able to see it here in America. I know BBC News will air it but will it be on America’s television?

  29. Claudius, it will almost cerainly be on BBC America and BBC World, but I can’t confirm that immediately. I’ll look into it further.

  30. Claudius, the service is being broadcast by BBC1 on Monday at 11am GMT (around 6am Eastern). It will certainly be on BBC America, although I can’t confirm that.

  31. Back to Harry & Chelsy, it’s reported that Chelsy visited a salon and bought a stunning new outfit as she prepared to meet Harry in London on Friday evening. It sounded like she was trying to make herself as attractive as possible, so I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that they’ve reconciled.

  32. I really hope these two get back together. By the appearance of her, I could see that she was really heartbroken. Unlike Kate and her fake smile and a tennis racquet which made me think:
    1. They never really broke up (therefore she was not sad)
    or
2.She is the relationship for something else, not love.
    What do you think?

  33. I think Kate has learned to have a poker face. Not wearing her heart on her sleeve means she can still have private thoughts and feelings that the press can’t report about. I give Kate high marks for her loyalty to William.

  34. Evelyn, Circumstances are working against Kate. I really think the comment made months ago “met too early” really applies. I sincerly hope not but pattern of behavious seems to be repeating. i agree with your loyalty comments ,unfortunately they may be misplaced

  35. Will, Kate is going on a romantic holiday with Prince William in January.
