One was that he believed in the Divine Right of Kings, an absolutists Monarchy, and the second was that he was a Catholic. William of Orange was a Protestant and was comfortable to be a Constitutional Monarch. If we are talking bloodlines alone, the Stuarts have a clear claim to purity of lineage. As for the Stuarts being "autocrats" so were all the dynasties of England, for all the kings claimed to rule by the grace of God and their right of inheritance.
