Peter Phillips to marry Autumn Kelly
It’s rather confusing having a grandson of the Queen with no title. So does Peter Phillips’ newly-announced nuptials to Canadian Autumn Kelly count as a Royal wedding?
Well, our Texan Chapter has decided it is. So, to avoid having the Texas Rangers beating on our door, we are pleased to treat it as a Royal occasion. A little extra bunting please.
Peter, 29, met Montreal-born Autumn at the Canadian Grand Prix, where he was working as sponsorship manager for the Williams Formula One team. She has been with him for four years, now sharing a cottage on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.
Autumn grew up in Montreal with her mother Kay and stepfather Ron Magas, an airline pilot. She attended McGill University and became a management consultant after graduating.
Peter, who was once tipped to play for Scotland at rugby union, studied at Exeter University in Devon. He now works for the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Although tenth in line to the throne, he doesn’t bear a Royal title and carries out no official engagements. As I write, there are no details available for the wedding.
Royal Anecdotes sends best wishes to the both of them.

LOL Thanks for graciously posting the Peter Phillips-Autumn Kelly engagement on Royal Anecdotes, John.
I promise that the Texas Rangers will not chase you across the Pecos River, or even the Thames, for that matter! I understand that the Princess Royal wanted to shield her children from the glare of publicity and insisted they not have Royal titles to achieve that. Nevertheless, her decision, made during their infancy and without their input, should not preclude either Peter or Zara receiving the full share of respect and consideration, which is their due as grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II.
Furthermore, we have waited lo these many months for a Royal wedding and FINALLY we have it!! As soon as we have a date, I say let the celebrations begin! In preparation, I am washing crystal champagne goblets and polishing silver.

Just give Paul Burrell a ring, Gigi.

? I don’t understand that one, John. What does that mean?

Is it just me, or does Prince William look a lot like his cousin?
Funny how no one ever says this about Harry….

Prince Harry strongly resembles Diana’s side, the Spencer family. Let us remember that siblings do not always look like each other. The very good reason for this is that their facial characteristics are created by genetics that come from two parents, four grandparents, eight great grandparents, and on and on.

Good for Peter and his bride-to-be, she’s a pretty girl, I hope we get to see pictures of her dress.

Oh, I get it, John, you mean to call Paul Burrell because he is a butler? Actually, I like washing my own heirloom china, crystal and silver by hand, and polishing the silver myself. It makes me feel closer to my Mother and Grandmother. I am an old-fashioned girl.

I think that in a way this is a royal wedding as Peter is the grandson of HM. Although he has no title. Lord Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto had weddings that were touted as royal albiet toned down like that of the Wessex wedding and they do not have the HRH either. Gigi will you bake a wedding cake for the day to go with the champagne? We can meet between NY and Texas to celebrate.

Excellent notion! Trudie, I think we also ought to have strawberries with the champagne.
My guess is that the wedding will be sometime after the Queen and Prince Philip’s wedding anniversary in November.

Sounds good Gigi perhaps John will want to hop across the pond and join us. Actually I see a December Wedding not November as that is the month of HM’s 60th.

They could go for a quickie up in Scotland as Anne did second time around. No fuss is Peter’s style, so that’s my betting.
Alternatively, they could opt for a splendid spring affair in St George’s Chapel, Windsor with the Queen and everyone there.
The outside bet would be a winter wedding on a Caribbean beach, but that doesn’t seem in character, especially with Autumn, who seems to be an old-fashioned Canadian girl — and a fine choice for Peter, if I may say so.

Who cares when and where the wedding takes place as long as it is what the Bride and Groom want. It is their special day and title or not they are Prince and Princess for the day and they will rule!!!!

This is wonderful news. All the signs were there that Peter and Autumn were serious.
Autumn appeared to be a serious candidate for a Bride when she appeared with the Queen on the RF family cruise last summer and there the Queen stood with her and smiled with cameras watching as they chatted.
Good luck to them.

It appears that Peter will give up his place in the line of succession to the Throne as Autumn is Catholic.
