True! Unfortunately that is the problem. In order to get information, reporters claim they need to be able to keep sources confidential. That also allows unscrupulous reporters to invent sources and quotes. This, in part, is the practice that has contributed heavily to the decline of the credibility of the press. The other major factor is slanted, agenda-driven news.
