Has Guy Pelly outed himself?

Guy Pelly, the great friend of Prince William and Prince Harry, has apparently outed himself.

Pelly was once accused of introducing Prince Harry to drugs and sleazy bars, but this has been strenuously denied by all concerned.

Known occasionally as the Prince’s “court jester” because of his tendency to outrageous pranks and stripping off in public, Pelly seems to have deliberately courted commentary recently, as well as a gentleman in a pink sweater. The Daily Mail gives us this snippet :

He has been dubbed the court jester of the set after he was wrongly blamed for introducing a youthful Prince Harry to cannabis and latenight drinking.

Last night Pelly was led by the hand past waiting snappers by a gentleman wearing jeans and a pink jumper.

Is he hoping to start a trend that could spell the end for the traditional muscular minder?

Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Is William right to be so close to this man of many parts?

  1. Gee what a surprise!!!

  2. Now let’s wait for Wills to do the same and showing that he is bisexual :-) :-)
Pelly will be happy to see that somewhere, there is an entire article just for him! Wow, beginning of glory, Pelly!
Not sure he deserves it though.

  3. I doubt that Wills will do that, Lily, as he almost certainly isn’t a Pellyite in that sense.

Of course, it could just be another of Pelly’s pranks. ;-)

  4. My opinion of Prince William just went up.

  5. This just sounds like another prank to me. Guy Pelly appears to be willing to do most anything to be center stage. It is a sure sign of insecurity, but I doubt it is a sure sign of anything else. Even if it is, I would hope that the Royal Family members recollect that they are at the head of a nation of people from all walks of life, many religions, many persuasions.

  6. Another prank? I don’t think so, Gigi. Here’s what good old Clive Goodman of the News of the World had to say about Guy. You know, the guy who got busted for listening in to Willie’s phone messages.

“SSSsss…Hear that silence? That’s Clarence House on Prince William’s role with the British Lions in New Zealand next month.
Now the squad is wearing skin-tight new shirts there’s a job for someone on the bench to help ease them off. So could William, right, be official shirt-lifter to the Lions? Or might his pal Guy Pelly, also on the trip, be a more suitable applicant?”

Of more interest is that this little “pink jumper man” tidbit is no longer on the Daily Mail website. Now why would they go to all the trouble to remove such an innocuous statement? Why indeed.

  7. Jasper, thanks for your input. Very interesting points. I’m sure we’ll all be more alert to this strand of inquiry.

  8. Jasper, you’re right that the section of the piece has been taken down. The caption for the picture has been altered. At first they identified the man with Pippa Middleton as Guy Pelly, when it was in fact, Charles Morshead, who escorted Kate during the split from William. They don’t identify him though.

  9. Ok, I am afraid that I have lost the thread of this. What is the issue?

  10. Why the would anyone assume that either Prince William or Guy Pelly are bisexual or gay? Prince William has never shown himself to be anything other than a heterosexual male who is interested in women.
I think it’s too bad that he and Prince Harry have to be subjected to so much rude speculation. Prince Harry about his parentage, and Prince William about his sexuality. I hope they continue to stand up with their heads held high and ignore these types of unfair and unsavoury whispers. Sometimes it almost seems as if people are trying their level best to push Prince William into being whatever they want to see him as, instead of just simply seeing him as he is.
Prince William has conducted himself as a heterosexual male his whole life, and he isn’t in the least effeminate. There is no good reason to assume that he’s any different from what he presents himself to be: a straight male. I think there must be some people hiding somewhere who’ve been indulging themselves in a little emotional projection and wishful thinking. I also feel sorry for Guy Pelly, because he’s been treated the same way obviously. I wonder how his pretty blonde girlfriend feels when she reads these types of things?

  11. Who is Guy Pelly and why should I care?

    ::shrugs::

    :)

  12. Gigi, I think that wearing a “pink shirt” in titillated Brit speak means that a guy is gay. As in homosexual. As in Guy likes guys. As in, oh, well, if William has one gay friend, he must be gay too, which to me is reasoning that could only come from an older generation, and not a younger, more tolerant one.

The euphamism also seems silly to me considering that Jermyn Street specializes in, among other things, shirts by Thomas Pink.

  13. John how do you know that William is not a Pellyite in that sense? The RF has also had it share of gay and or bisexual family members i.e. Prince George The Duke of Kent. Anyway in pictures of William and Guy together you can see the look of adoration in Pelly’s eyes. HEHEHE. On The Outside FYI Guy Pelly is a friend of the Princes and the one responsible at least in the press for turning on Prince Harry with pot. No one really cares he is just another hanger on.

  14. John, I’m not quite sure what you mean, but I can tell that tonight’s Evening Standard ran the article as you quoted it with the picture of Guy Pelly and Mr Pink-Shirt man.

  15. Just the the Mail got the caption wrong — not the Guy Pelly story which seems to have legs.

  16. I agree with Mapleleaf. There’s never been any hint that William is anything other than “a straight sorta guy”. As for Guy Pelly, one doesn’t really care.

  17. Lovely, Mapleleaf. Like you, I hope Wills to stand up with his head held high, and I hope he will ignore Lilyfromfrance’s horrible rude comments. Are you more aware than me on this thing? As for your thing “people are trying their level best to push Prince William into being whatever they want to see him”, well, am I a guy for dreaming him to be bisexual? I dont give a damn about what he does with his buttocks, otherwise I would hate Middleton. Im sure a lot of people will appreciate the word “effeminate”, which is absolutely out of context, dear Mapleleaf.
I would like to thanks Trudie, I agree with what you said about the photo and Wills’ eyes. At least there is someone who watches the photos carefully, and who doesnt try to contradict people on a subject that no one knows, just to full its free time. Oh, and Im sure Pelly is amazingly glad to see that someone on internet “feels sorry for him” because the poor guy has bad publicity. Poor little boy. What a hard life.

  18. Yes but Trudie says, “the look in Pelly’s eyes”. I agree he does sort of idolise William, but that doesn’t mean it’s mutual. He’s just a useful hanger-on who makes them all laugh.

  19. I know. I changed the sentence. It’s mutual to me. Only Wills. Not Harry.

  20. You know, that thing “jester” etc is another invention from the press. I think that there are worse then Pelly in Wills and Harry’s entourage. What I see in Pelly is different of adoration, ofcourse there is fascination, but it’s different. I dont know why people are outraged. Is a problem or in insult to be a male and bisexual or gay?

  21. Sorry Marie, too clever by half. It’s not Brit speak. Guy Pelly’s friend was wearing a light pink jumper.

Who knows if William is playing both sides of the field, but if he were, it’s not as if Clarence House is going to announce it. It’s also not accurate to say that there haven’t been indications, through the years, that things aren’t exactly on the up and up with William.

  22. “. . . things aren’t exactly on the up and up with William.”

Well, I could make a pun here, but I won’t. Seriously, thanks for setting me straight, Jasper!

  23. Quote from John:

“As for Guy Pelly, one doesn’t really care.”

If that’s the case, why write the article?

  24. I suspect John wrote the article because Guy, being a close friend of Prince William, may be of interest to others who watch the activities of the Royal circle. There will, it seems, always be Falstaff types like Guy dancing attendance around Royal Princes, basking in the limelight while they may. For a time they may even prove amusing but inevitably they fall by the wayside.

  25. this is just way too funny…. William gay or bisexual? that’s a very popular theory….

  26. It can be a popular theory from now until the cows come home and I still won’t believe it. Just because someone associates with a person of an alternative lifestyle does not mean that he shares that lifestyle.

  27. Exactly, Gigi, most men know another who’s gay. Doesn’t mean they wear pink jumpers, though. ;-)

  28. For my part, if you have read one of my post that I wrote in a previous article, you will see that I said I believe his bisexuality since his sabbatical year. It was 6 years ago. Pelly wasnt around yet :-) And this article about Pelly wasnt here yet.
I didnt write that just because I would have heard some rumors or something, and to be honest I’ve never heard any rumors about a probable bisexuality and I would be quite surprised if a tabloid would dare. John, as you have said no one cares about Pelly, so if you have put an article, particularly about that, then I guess you have felt something. Otherwise, why? You’re a very funny person but too smart for being mocking about people. Even towards the weird Pelly.
Im not 12 years old to believe that stupid thing that when a guy has a gay friend then that does mean he is gay too. I also was quite surprised to see the comment of someone above who talked about tolerance. Im quite surprised. Gay guys dont need tolerance. They dont have any problem.

  29. Lily, please don’t make unsubstatiated accusations about people on this site. It opens us to legal action.

Shake is spamming this site with libellous material, despite our banning him, and I may have to contact the police.

  30. Wow. Ofcourse I wasnt accusing anyone! Sorry if I seemed to do.

  31. Thanks, Lily. :-)
