Prince Harry may be barred from Afghanistan
With British troops taking heavy casualties in Afghanistan, it seems Prince Harry’s chances of getting there even in a training capacity are diminishing by the day.

Prince Harry in battle mode
The plan to send him in with the East Anglian regiment, which has lost over a dozen men recently, have been put on hold. A final decision over whether he can serve in Afghanistan will not be taken for some weeks, according to insiders.
Some say that despite the fierce fighting in Helmand Province a range of options still remain open for him, including sending Harry to work at the NATO headquarters in the capital Kabul, which remains relatively safe.
He could also be given a job at Camp Bastion, the main British base in Helmand which is located in remote desert, and has so far not come under direct attack. However, once the Taliban get word he’s there, that could change dramatically.
It looks now as if Harry is destined for a very minor role in the Army, with him quitting after his initial three-year commission.

Of course Harry is destined for a minor role in the Army!!! it is the media and public always tipping the terrorists off as to where he is. He goes to Canada for training and passengers talk to the media . Heres a headline for everyone WHILE HARRY IS IN THE ARMY KEEP QUIET AS TO WHERE HE IS DUH!!!!

Excellent post, Trudie, I agree with you. These indiscreet and disloyal people who blab military secrets are guilty of treason and should be prosecuted. How anyone with any intelligence does not comprehend that troop assignments and locations are top secret information, I will never understand.

This boy should be a man and realize he cannot have his way by serving on the front lines. Give it up already. His self-centeredness will put others at risk. He should shut his mouth, go where his COs see fit to place him, come out, go get a post-secondary education and make himself useful working on charities.
Harry: The world over thinks it’s great that you want to put you pellinis on the line, BUT IT AIN’T HAPPENIN, CAPICHE??YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR WAY ALL THE TIME, SO GIVE IT UP!! JESUS!!

Your comment really annoyed me, Positive. It’s normal and admirable that he would look to serve however he could. And he should go to university and start taking part in charities??? First of all, insisting on the former is a very limited way of looking at life and as for the latter, he already is!
Why should HE have to have it YOUR way????
By Bex on June 6th, 2007 at 4:29 am
Worse yet, why should he have it HIS way? Which means endangering others so that he can indulge himself. He can make himself more useful and help others by bringing attention to worthwhile causes, not getting shot at in a useless war.
The truth is annoying sometimes.

Your Truth is annoying yes. Your views and opinions and attitude when portray them as fact.

I woould be grateful if the expressions of opinions posted on this site could be free of profanity, if possible. Naturally every one of us has strong emotional reactions to topics that are discussed here. Nevertheless, there are, no doubt, young people reading this website and I would prefer that the adults who post here be seen as appropriate role models. I do beg that we all limit our choice of words to those that are less inflammatory, in any language. Regarding Prince Harry, I do not believe that the MoD is reacting to the wishes of Prince Harry to serve in a forward area. The military does not march to the drumbeat of a member of the Royal Family, except for the Sovereign, as we have seen in past generations. If a member of the Royal Family chooses to serve in a branch of the military, as many have done, they understand that they will be subject to military discipline and military orders to the same degree as a commoner who joins the military. The media enjoys writing exaggerated treatments that put Prince Harry in a negative light. I do not believe that Prince Harry is making demands of his superior officers. I do believe that the MoD wishes to usefully employ Prince Harry to their benefit and to his. Whatever decision they make, Prince Harry will obey orders and he will serve where he is sent. To believe otherwise is to misunderstand military protocol and discipline.

Pellinis, slang for balls, is in no way profane. Nor is taking the Lord’s name in vain, although that might offend some who are faithful, that is their problem, not mine. I’m not nor do I aspire to be a role model for anyone, and there is already somethnig desperately wrong with any kid or anyone else who is looking for a role model on an internet message board. If kids want role models, I would advise them to look at home to their parents first, not to me, not to strangers on the internet, where it is not a crime to express colorful exasperation about infantile behavior of two young self-indulgent, spoiled, childish, and clueless princes.
Gigi, I enjoy reading your posts, but it’s the way I feel.

I must disagree with you, Positive. Part of the problem with the media and the internet is that people feel as if they can say anything they want at any time. Standards fall away, and often civility, truth and decency are cast aside for reasons which I find self-indulgent at best. I know the younger generation is used to a free mode of expression, but that does not make it right nor does it make it appropriate. Furthermore, it is possible to express one’s opinion without slandering someone in terms and attitudes that are tantamount to verbal abuse. It is your opinion that the young Princes’ behavior is less than worthy, but that does not make it true. I understand the way you feel, but I would be able to appreciate your opinions to a greater degree if you did not employ inflammatory expressions, profanity and crudities. I am assuming, of course, that you not only wish to state your views but also that you wish to persuade others to agree with your views. I think you will find that your purpose is better served and your aims more likely to be achieved with less pique, less judgemental statements. Remember the adage “You can catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar.”

I agree with you Gigi. Civility has no cost, whereas slagging people off without cast-iron proof can often come back to haunt you. Even on the internet you have to be careful what you say. The question I always ask myself is, can the world do without that sentence I’ve just written. Alas in 99% of cases the answer is yes.

I repeat where in my posts did I use profanity. I really resent being lectured like I am a child. If John has a problem with my posts, as owner of this site he can let me know or ban me. Until then, I will assume freedom of expression still exists here at his site. Anyone else who can close their eyes and keep scrolling.

And what I said about Harry’s “ALLEGED” histrionics here, I would gladly say to his face if I had the chance: I’m sick of him and his brother’s “alleged” whining all the time. Don’t want questions asked about your private life? Don’t give the interview. If you sign up for the military, they tell YOU where to serve, not the other way around. Tired of the unfair shots of you stumbling wasted out of a nightclub at night, don’t get tanked and walk upright out of the club, sober.
They should both grow up, shut up, and get on with their responsibilities.

Pos, you haven’t broken any of the rules of our comment policy. However, anger is ugly and doesn’t come over well when directed against someone you don’t know and have never met.
If the Royal didn’t do anything daft from time to time, we wouldn’t have much to wrte about here.

I know John. But I’m sick of “reports of” their whining.
