And certainly, I feel any woman discarded after years has every right to deny her friendship to the man who discarded her. What - after love, "remain friends"? For the dumped party, it's unthinkable. My line, after shorter relationships was, "You don't want my love? You don't deserve my friendship." I am hoping that the bizarre chain of commitments - Ascot, Cartier Polo, a family wedding, a Balmoral weekend - may signal a U-turn on William's part. Don't let yourself be used, Kate.
