Kate Middleton Snob Story Still Runs
The discredited story that snobbery played a part in the breakup between Kate Middleton and Prince William is still raging in the press.

Carole Middleton with Kate
Yesterday, Prince William and the Palace moved to quash this damaging accusation. Clarence House has also said that Kate’s family had nothing to do with the break-up.
A senior source commented, “The story of the split is being twisted into a character assassination on Carole Middleton. This is unfair and motivated by snobbery and envy.â€
Meanwhile, the state of Carole Middleton’s health is giving cause for concern. A friend is quoted as saying, “Carole is at breaking point. She is in such a bad way that Kate has had to comfort her. It is so unfair that someone has got the knives out for Kate’s mum. She is an innocent party. Carole has worked all hours to make a success of Party Pieces and support her family.”
It is understood that Kate’s father has booked a last-minute holiday in the Caribbean to get her away from the atmosphere at home. A friend said, “Kate is not going with her parents to the Caribbean because she is concerned about the signals that would send. It was an amicable split and Kate is relaxed about the decision.â€
The fallout from the split is likely to resonate for some weeks to come.

Kate’s poor mother – as if it is not hard enough to see any daughter through a break-up after this long a relationship under ordinary circumstances, she is being held up in the spotlight and dragged through the dirt. Poor woman and heaven only knows how she must feel right now.

To have the whole world talking about you in this way – I don’t envy the woman one bit.

She put herself in the spotlight unfortunately and now she’s reaping the whirlwind.
I feel very sorry for her. She never asked for, or deserved, what she’s getting now. The spotlight will move on eventually — when some other cause celebre turns up.

I am still intriqued about all of this attention to this breakup. It is two young college kids who met, had some romance and realized that it was not meant to be. How many of us married our college sweethearts? And, if we did, how many of us are still married to them? True that one of them is the future King of England, but even so they are young people. To chide Wills for not being ready to run down the aisle just so that we have the future Queen of England questioned settled seems so myopic. Take a look at Wills “cousins” in the other European monarchies: Crown Prince Phillipe of Belgium not married until he was 39; Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was 35; Crown Prince Felipe of Spain was 35; The Prince of Orange was 35; Crown Prince Haakon of Norway was 28 and Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria is 30 and not married yet. Give the kid a break he is only 24 . . . he has plenty of time.

It’s not us, Jim, it’s the public’s demand for juicy Royal storylines … and, of course, a Royal wedding.
By John on April 19th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
The press has been left with “egg on their faces” and they may be angry, because Pr. William didn’t stick to their (the press chosen)FairyTale Wedding game-plan and propose to Kate, instead he did what a lot of 24 year old people do, He broke up with his girlfriend, when the relationship came to it’s natural end. The press doesn’t really care about William’s happiness, or Kate’s happiness ,they just wanted a Royal Wedding, leading to years of money into their news room bank accounts. So now the press is milking what is left from the break up, a mother percieved to be pushy, Kate’s background, William’s royal family. I think it’s the press who are angry and have egg on their faces.

Mandy, the bookies have just halved the odds on the pair getting together again sometime. A lot of money is going on that option. Many people just can’t accept that they have really split up — as I suggested when this story broke.
Army friends are saying that William is missing her already. Here we go again.

Yeah sure……the press can keep on dreaming.
Dream on.

This public relations nightmare worsens with every day. It was bad enough when Kate and Prince William were being hounded and their feelings hurt but now Mrs. Middleton is ill because of the media barrage. This must cease at once. If the media insist on making fools of themselves, that is their failing, but in the process they are damaging people’s lives. When will they make an end?

John, I remember reading somewhere that Prince William asked her not “to make a rash decision”. Any chance that he talked about wanting his freedom, and that she responded with the quick split? I thought that statement was inconsistent with the word that he demanded the split. What do you think? Might this also explain him missing her (that it wasn’t really all up to him)?
By Cate on April 19th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
Cate, that was at the last split in 2004. They’ve split twice before, and the last time he had “to beg her to take him back”.
Puts it all in perspective, doesn’t it.
By John on April 19th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
It most certainly does!
By Gigi on April 19th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Thank you John. I think your next post should be a timeline and directory of all this information! It is too difficult to keep track of the details!

I had heard about one split, but not two. Of course, with the kind of behavior we’ve seen in Prince William over the last month, I wouldn’t blame Kate at all to want to end the relationship.
Have we scheduled the Cyber Tea? I want to put it on my calendar so I don’t miss all those delicious treats.
It’s a good thing there are no calories in cyberspace.

I am in for tea – what a delightful and civilized thought! Who is baking the scones???
By Jim on April 20th, 2007 at 1:01 am
I do like extra sugar sprinkled on my scones! And, rasberry scones please!

what *is* clotted cream? (feeling like an uneducated american)
By Sarah on April 20th, 2007 at 4:39 am
I should have said Devonshire cream, which is the formal name for it. You heat milk slowly in a saucepan and skim the cream off the top, cool it and spread it on the scones. It is thicker than regular milk, richer and tastes slightly sweet like real whipped cream. Sarah, you are not an uneducated American, you are just too young to remember when real whipped cream was served in bowls at table. I am an American but because I am almost 60, I remember those days.
I well remember my Mother and my Great Aunt hand whipping cream in the kitchen just before we sat down to dinner. The adults used it in their coffee and tea, and we used it on fruit desserts, pies and tarts. I inherited the cut glass bowl in which my Mother and her Mother before her always served the whipped cream.

If Prince William never felt ready to commit to Kate, why did he introduce her to the Queen and his family? Why did he invite her to his graduation ceremony and make it so public only to break up with her a few months later? I think Prince William unfortunately gave a false hope to Kate. If my boyfriend introduced me to his family & invited to his family gatherings, I would’ve think he is really serious.

Clotted cream is very thick, like soft cheese. It’s made by scalding the milk and skimming the curd (if that’s the right word) off the top. Most of it is made here in the West Country of England (Cornwall and Devon).
It’s totally delicious with scones and strawberry jam. The ladies tell me it’s very plumping though.
By John on April 20th, 2007 at 7:24 am
it sounds delicious!
By Sarah on April 20th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Just about everything that is delicious is not slimming, unfortunately.
Nevertheless, clotted cream and strawberry jam have been added to the menu for our Royal Anecdotes Tea! We shall deal with the extra calories at a later date, after we recover from our rich repast.
By Gigi on April 20th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
We’re not having this every day are we, Gigi?
By John on April 20th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
I think we should vary the menu. For example, when Trudie gets back from the family wedding, I think we should have a Royal Anecdotes Gala Wedding Tea with champagne.
We can add some Napoleons, too, to honor Lily from France. We can also have a spare-the-waistline diet tea every once in a while featuring watercress sandwiches and no decadence (i.e. no chocolate cake or Devonshire cream) if everyone feels it will help.

Thank you very much sweet Gigi. What a lovely idea.

Carol Middleton, may or may not have been socially fit to join the Royal family, but she did not choose this in her life. She raised a beautiful daughter one fit enough to socialize with royalty and she should be given credit for it. I read that Kate Middleton received a copy of the book PJ Coble’s book RISE: Rejoicing in Spiritual Evidence by one of the Royals and she has been comforted by it. I wish the family well.
