Queen’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary
There’s virtually no information available at present about the upcoming Diamond Wedding Anniversary of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. At least they’ve got a logo for it (pictured left).
The official website of the British Monarchy is showing zero search results for the occasion, except for a visitor’s question about the £5 commemorative coin struck by the Royal Mint.
In fact, the coin is the only sign that anything is happening at all around this event. It seems certain, though, that a service will take place in Westminster Abbey during November — but no details yet.
It occurs to my investigatory mind that the Royal Household may just be aware of another big event scheduled to take place within this timeframe.
Now I wonder what that could be?
I think your comment that something even more significant than the Queen Diamond Anniversary may be looming on the horizon is spot on, John. While I agree that the celebrations for the Diamond Wedding Anniversary will not be as elaborate as the Queen’s Birthday celebration, it still seems odd to me that no plans whatsoever are on record eleven months in advance. Could it be that a wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton might be in the secret planning stages and that the date might actually be the same date on which the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh wed in 1947?

It really would be a special occassion if events fall in to place as suggested. It would be a wonderful gesture to coincide with HM’s wedding anniversary! It sounds quite likely to happen. Great idea!
Does anyone know why Kate got a parking ticket? Its a shame she was unable to explain to the person who wrote the ticket. Do tickets count against one’s driver’s insurance/license as it does in the States?

it is in november, you know. i wouldn’t read too much of it now. maybe if by march or april there is still no word of the anniversary then there really could another big event. and yes, i wonder what it might be. lol.
