A week or so ago we posted a piece about the Queen’s right eye which was distinctly bloodshot during a ceremony in Northern Ireland.
A new picture, taken during an event at St James Palace, shows that, a week later, the condition has not improved, indeed may even have worsened.
I’m no doctor, but I do know that this can be a pointer to more serious problems, especially for an octogenarian. Yet we’re still not getting any information from the Palace.
Shouldn’t the Queen at the very least take some time off from her gruelling round of engagements?

Prince William has always wanted to be a gentleman farmer, much like his dad. Now he’s been given his opportunity.
He will take over as Ranger of Windsor Great Park, a post currently held by his 85-year-old grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh.
William will cut short his Army career to the minimum three years, which will also involve spells in the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, since he will be Commander in Chief of them all when he becomes King.
In 2009, he will settle into the part-time Ranger’s job at Windsor. Does this mean he will live at Windsor Castle? We don’t know. Clarence House is very tight-lipped about the whole thing.
A friend chips in : “If truth be told, William would love to spend the rest of his life as a gentleman farmer. He’s a country boy at heart and it is where his interests lie.”
I wonder how all this will go down with Kate Middleton?

The internet generation has voted overwhelmingly for Kate Middleton as the next “People’s Princess”.
An AOL poll showed 73pc of the 134,640 voters in favour of her marrying Prince William and stepping into the late Princess Diana’s role.
Only 16pc said they were “not sure” and the lowest number of 11pc said they couldn’t see Kate as William’s wife.
The poll comes amid growing speculation that William and Kate’s four-year relationship could be formalized soon.
The UK Daily Mail says : “Despite William’s claim that he is ‘too young to marry’, many Royal insiders say it is only a matter of time before an engagement.”
This going to stir up a hornet’s nest.

Whatever next? Chelsy Davy has been voted the world’s second most powerful blonde. Only the really powerful Elisabeth Murdoch pips her to the top.
So just how is Prince Harry’s girl powerful? Presumably she can influence his choice of nightclub or recommend a new tipple. She may even be able to dictate his dress code for the night — though somehow I doubt that.
The whole top ten is :
1 Elisabeth Murdoch
2 Chelsy Davy
3 Cristina Green
4 Carole Bamford
5 Lily Donaldson
6 Camilla Parker Bowles
7 Sienna Miller
8 Nick Rhodes
9 Natalia Westminster
10 Irina Abramovich
Sienna Miller number 7? That says it all.
