Is Chelsy Davy as Thick as Two Planks?
The American MSNBC news network is reporting that Chelsy Davy is not so smart as her exam results suggest. Under the title, “Prince Harry’s sweetie is no brain surgeon” it makes her out to be a real dumbo. Here’s the piece :
The Royal’s sweetie, Chelsy Davy, is so prone to bloopers and malapropisms that Harry affectionately refers to her as “Dubya.†Harry keeps a poster of some of George W. Bush’s gaffes on his wall to remind him of his love, according to the London Sun.
Her brother Shaun told the paper, “Last month she said, ‘Shaun, are woolly mammoths extinct?’ I said, ‘You can’t be serious.’ But she was totally convinced mammoths were still alive.â€
He added, “She asked our father why grass-eating buffalo didn’t eat deer when they got hungry. That’s Chelsy, and we love her for it.â€
Is there a touch of sibling rivalry here?
You have to ask though, how would such a person get accepted for a postgrad degree at one of Britain’s Russell Group universities?
Exactly… if she is so much of a “dumb blonde” as the tabs would have us believe. Than how did she pull off such good grades, not to mention getting accepted into a postgraduate program studying polotics?
I think it is just the tabloids way of putting her down after she had a day of good press. I don’t think they can ever stand it when their set perceptions of either gf has any press which goes against their set perceptions.
Examples being:
When Chelsy gets good press… suddenly there are a lot of articles about non-sensical things wich ultimately make her look dumb, drunk or just a passing phase.
Or when there is ever a minimally bad article about Kate than suddenly there are tons of Kate is Great articles.
I don’t think the british tabloid press as a whole likes their agenda’s for whomever to be contradicted. It doesn’t mean they are true. And unfortuntly it seems, even the US’s media (which isn’t so hot either) is picking up on the British media’s type of reporting. Which again, unfortunanly, only furthers the BS that is “reported”.

gahhhh, i’m thinking because she’s smart. What you say around your friends and what you do in school are two VERY differnt things. I’m sure you know she has been scouted by google, and no one dumb can get in there.

I really think the media enjoys making Chelsy out to be a dumb blond when she is a most intelligent young woman. I think the toasts at her party were just affectionate jokes and not a picture of the real woman.

I totally agree, Trudie. As soon as reports come in that she’s very intelligent, someone comes up with stories that she isn’t.
These quotes come from her brother. Hasn’t anyone heard of sibling rivalry? Maybe Shaun is jealous of her worldwide fame and success in her exams.

I agree with Varya and Marg… the press couldn’t stand it, that Chelsy is not falling under the perception they have been “trying” to create of her. (They basically seem to want to create a good-smart princess and a bad-dumb-non-princess)
All Chelsy has to do is just keep moving forward in her education, get a really stellar job from her all the hard educational studies and report to work everyday…eventually….the press will have to “eat crow”…..let’s face it, the more Chelsy educates herself, with higer degrees the less the press can make her out to be just a party girl. What are they going to say after Chelsy has a higher educational degree than than Kate. I’m sure they’ll still think of something negative to say about Chelsy, while applauding Kate for just ‘waiting for William to call or propose. Chelsy getting her higer degree is stellar and it’s a totally positive thing. The press was probably thrown for a loop….something they didn’t expect. If William and Kate ever breakup the press will probably need tranqulizers they’ll be in such shock. It will be interesting to see how things unfold with all them, Kate, Chelsy,Harry,William. The press has already written their scripts, so the-press offices will probably shed tears if “events” don’t “play out “according to the press-plan.

The press takes any “positive” aspect of Chelsy OR ANY POSITIVE Press she gets and seems to put out a negative story the next day. She had wonderful press one day about getting higher degrees and the press found a way to “try” to keep her in their negative stereotyped box…..I really think in the end the press will have to “eat crow”, because developing one’s education is always a positive thing.

Chelsey seems like a fun girl to hang out with and she’s probably a ditz in the way many young girls are just immature. I’m sure she is smart and from what I can tell she is perfect for Harry!
