Will Chelsy Davy Work for Google?

There’s still a lot of talk about the longish-term relationship between Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry.

Apart from the difficulties of being thousands of miles apart for most of the year — she in Cape Town, South Africa, he in the British Army — there’s also the question of her father Charles Davy’s links with the malicious Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe.

One question that doesn’t seem to be considered though is that Chelsy is very good academically. Her 80%+ score in her best subject, statistics, is an eye-opener. In a world where “soft” courses like, Golf Course Management, Media Studies, Art History, etc., are the preferred options for many students, Chelsy goes for the hard, abstract subject of statistics — and does exceptionally well at it.

What does this tell us about Chelsy’s future? We know that companies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc. are always desperately seeking graduates with expertise in abstract thinking. It’s the new Holy Grail in the world of software engineering, where what’s in the box is more important than the box itself.

After she graduates, Chelsy would be a prime candidate for one of the big software/search companies.

Could Chelsy end up working for Google in Mountain View, California? And what would Harry make of that?

  1. She may be blond but she certainly is not dumb. People think Chelsy inappropriate because she dresses in the manner of most young girls and I like her young hip style and I also believe that her intellengence probably would suit her well as a royal.

  2. She’ll certainly have a few options open to her, Trudie. She may find that her father’s past is a real bar to entering the Royal family though. In that case a good career with a go-ahead firm like Google would be the next best thing. I couldn’t see her joining Kate in her clothing business :-)

  3. Chelsy seems more appropriate than Miss Kate who posed, modeled in her undies , lived with William at college, is seen coming out of clubs giving the press a hand signal, gyrates on dance floors with Guy Pelly, but the press seems to forget that. Chelsy may actually find WORK with her college degree. Chelsy’s wealth is much greater than Kate Middleton’s, but the girl doesn’t seem like a person who will just follow Harry around and NOT work. Kate is the one who is a bit of disappointment since watching her activities after University and Kate totally glossed over in the press.

  4. Well I think they could take a lesson from the Dutch Royals who allowed Willem Alexander to Marry Maxima despite her fathers past He just was not invited to the wedding. And while we are at it HM was allowed to Marry PP immediately after the war and his inlaws were naziz’s and they were not invited either So what is the real problem with Chelsy?

  5. I totally agree..w/ Trudie.. Isn’t Maxima from Argentina?

  6. We’ll just have to see, but don’t forget it will be the politicians who decide if there’s a political angle.

  7. Now that’ss very sad John….

  8. It is, Ziny, but you can easily be contaminated by corrupt friends — look at Tony Blair.

  9. Tony Blair and his wife are only inpressed with their own self-importance they are jealous that they are not the top family and it is disgraceful that Cherie cannot and will not curtsey to the Queen. The politician’s should stay out of matter such as royal marriages after all they are a family and that is a private matter. The days of the empire are long gone as with arranged marriages.

  10. Yes, I agree, but politicians like to have their fingers in every pie. They thrive on publicity and it becomes a drug to them. Ho hum.

  11. I’m sure they’re not going to listen to me, Varya.

  13. [...] Chelsy is also very academic, getting 80 pc marks in statistics for her Cape Town University course. As I’ve said over at Royal Anecdotes, this will mark her down as a prime candidate for search company Google and other internet outfits looking for workers used to abstract thinking. [...]
