The Romance of Prince Charles and Camilla

Prince Charles and Camilla during a recent visit to India.

The long-drawn-out romance between Prince Charles, heir to the British Throne, and Camilla Shand is told by Clive Allen and Andrea Paulsen over on our newest blog : Great Romances.

Camilla, who went on to become Mrs Andrew Parker Bowles, is now the Duchess of Cornwall and wife to the Prince. The story is a fascinating one because it indicates that relationships don’t always have to be temporary, whatever mistakes both parties may make along the way.

  1. He should have married her the first time around and changed opinion about her then instead of destroying Diana only using her as a brood mare for heirs and then discarding her like rubbish. I believe Charles and Camilla deserve each other both are great in the art of deception.

  2. I agree with your Trudie. I see her as a menace to society in a way, because she can be seen as the “other woman who won”…. Ok.. so he married Diana… keep your hands off, no? I mean, If they had been so in love why didn’t he just give away his place as the heir to the throne, eh? Look at Prince Felipe of Spain.. Letizia is divorced… he told his parents if they didn’t let them get married he would quit his title… now that I call love.

  3. Well, I suppose I have a different take on it, but I’m not going to say or there’ll be a stream of violent comments :-)

  4. yeah.. I must imagine…but that’s my opinion…

  5. I think they are a great romance. It is unfortunate that Charles wasn’t strong enough as a young man, to deviate from other people’s wishes, and instead did what was deemed necessary for the Royal Family. I think Charles has loved Camilla all along, and I’m glad they’re finally together. I’m really tired of all the people who still cling to the Diana theme. Hello, let’s move on. We would, if they were only ordinary people, and not Royals.

  6. It’s all tragic. I loved Diana tremendously! What a sad existence for both her and Charles–she because she was young and naive, and he because he was forced into something he wasn’t into. If Charles didn’t have the royalty to answer to, Diana may still be alive today–living her life out, doing amazing things, and being loved for who she was—not for who she could give birth to. It’s obvious to me that for Charles, it was always Camilla. I can’t help but find it sweet that they finally got to be together, but it sure came at a huge price to others–and that is what ends up making it sour. How tragic.

  7. Moe you are absolutely right- at a huge price to others! That is what bothers me the most about PoW. He was a grown man and responsible for his own actions/behavior. He manipulated a young girl around my age. I cannot imagine how Diana must have coped- it is no wonder she reacted in the ways that she did.
