Princess Diana Death Photograph
We weren’t going to touch this distasteful story at all, but it has captured the headlines and even provoked a sad statement by Princes William and Harry, so here’s our response.
We will not print this picture because it violates every tenet of decency in journalism and life. It destroys what little privacy Diana’s family felt they had left, and sickened her sons.
Making money from someone’s death is about as low as you can go. The best response is totally to ignore it. Sometimes, though, you have to register a protest, and I’m glad Diana’s sons have done so.

John I hope the request by the Princes are not ignored. I pray that anyone with any decency will not surf the internet to see the photo nor buy any of the papers that publish it. It is my hope that it will send a strong statement that publishing such a painful photo because it has not been seen before and there fore the publisher is looking for a huge payday makes him the ultimate loser. And to think we still revile James Hewitt.

It sickens me as well… Ever since she died hate my birthday because to think that someone lost their lives so stupidly because someone else was trying to get a picture of them to get money is just apalling…. this???? I cannot explain the sadness I feel about this.

Lots of papers in England are not printing this picture, but if you know where to look, it’s up there on the internet. Everything is disclosed these day, even death — if you’re famous.

So much for the pledge that these pictures will never be published. I thought that they were all confiscated that horrible night and when the papparazzi were arrested. CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED!!!!!!

Somebody included it in a book, Trudie, and the Italian press got hold of it. Once the genie is out, it’s hard to get it back in the bottle, I’m afraid.
