Did Prince Charles Romance Streisand?

A new biography of Barbra Streisand strongly suggests that Prince Charles was “besotted” with the singer and Hollywood actress back in 1994/95. She reciprocated, and later remarked, “If I had not been so nervous of meeting him, I might have beaten Diana to the altar.”
The unauthorized biography by Christopher Anderson, Barbra – The Way She Is, has been attracting a lot of coverage in the New York press. It cites a number of well-placed sources for the story.
The late Harold Brooks-Baker, once editor of Burke’s Peerage, is quoted as saying, “The official explanation was that Prince Charles and Barbra Streisand had a private tea. Well, Charles has a ‘private tea’ with quite a long procession of women over the years. From what I understand, he was absolutely besotted with Barbra Streisand. Did anyone ever turn Charles down? Not to my knowledge.”
The book says: “According to a former member of the household staff [at Highgrove], Prince Charles had gone to elaborate lengths to keep Fleet Street and, more important, his then mistress Camilla Parker Bowles from finding out. ‘The Prince and Miss Streisand were very affectionate toward each other,’ the staff member said. ‘I entered the room at one point and obviously interrupted them … they were quite flustered’.
Princess Diana’s friend, Lady Elsa Bowker, is also quoted saying: “Diana knew Charles was infatuated with Miss Streisand. She would not have been surprised if they had an affair.”
At the time of the alleged affair, 1994, Prince Charles had separated from Diana two years earlier and was said to be involved with Camilla Parker Bowles, now his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.

Who cares if they had an affair. Charles was seperated ffrom Diana and Camilla was still married to Andrew in ’94. This author makes Kitty Kelly look like an amateur in the art of gossip although she wrote one book on the royal he has written two one on Diana and a second on the Princes indirectly also commenting now a third subject with links to Diana in an indirect way see a pattern here? Directly or indirectly Diana involvement means sensational stories and lots of money and although I greatly admire Streisand I will not read this book as I have never read any of his other books after checking out synopsis of their content.

It looks like another bandwagon, doesn’t it? But I suppose if it happened — and it seems almost certain it did — then he has to report it, especially as his subject is Streisand, not the Royal family. Another nine day wonder.
