Is Chelsy Davy Paving Way to Marry Prince Harry?

Chelsy Davy
Chelsey Davy, Prince Harry’s girlfriend.

News reaches us that Charles Davy, the father of Chelsy — Prince Harry’s girlfriend, has terminated his connection with HHK Safaris, the biggest game-hunting outfit in Zimbabwe. His association with the company has caused much controversy because one of his business partners was Webster Shamu, a minister in Robert Mugabe’s government, who was recently labelled “undesirable” by the U.S. State Department.

A friend of Mr Davy said that his principal reason for leaving was to ease the path of his daughter towards marriage into the British Royal family. Shamu was implicated in the ongoing bulldozing of townships that Mugabe perceives as opposed to his regime. The practice has been condemned worldwide.

This move will almost certainly increase speculation that Prince Harry is planning to marry Chelsy.

Crown Estates Switches to KPH

Peter Hitchens reports that the Crown Estates, which runs most Royal property, has put up new speed-limit signs in Kensington Palace Gardens, former home to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Fine, except that miles per hour has been replaced by kilometres per hour.

The fusspots responsible claim that this is to help the many diplomats in the area, who may not understand MPH. How, one wonders, would they fare in the U.S.A.? And how about British drivers who are expected to make the mental switch from one system to another between adjacent streets?

The British Weights and Measures Association, those stalwart folk who keep our memories of a pound of bananas alive, have said that these signs are illegal.

Peter Hitchens calls on the Palace to remind the bureaucrats that they still live in England. Royal Anecdotes supports him in his crusade.

Prince Charles Could be George VII

Prince Charles
Is this the Future King George VII?

This story has been aired before, but a recent report suggests that it’s still under consideration at Clarence House.

It seems that Prince Charles is unhappy about being King Charles III. When you think of what happened to the other two Charles’s, it’s not surprising, perhaps.

Charles I was robbed of his prize possession, his head, in a scallywag uprising of the middle classes, which led to a nasty dictatorship.

Charles II spent a lot of his life in exile, before the Restoration saw him firmly back on the throne. Although well-liked, he was known as a philandering Monarch, Nell Gwyn only accounting for part of it.

On the other hand, George VI, the present Charles’s grandfather, was a much admired wartime King. George V, while unexceptional, also presided over a well-loved Monarchy. It’s only when you get back to George IV that the record begins to dim and flicker somewhat.

So George VII would seem the better option for a Prince sensitive to the slings and arrows of outrageous history.

We here at Royal Anecdotes support the Prince of Wales in this endeavour, and wish him the very best of British luck for his future reign as King George VII.
