Prince William and Kate’s Country Cottage

Prince William's Cottage

This is the Highland country cottage being prepared for Prince William and Kate Middleton as a “love nest” during the summer and autumn months. The cottage is situated on the Royal estate at Balmoral, just a couple of minutes from Prince Charles and Camilla’s retreat, Birkhall.

The 120-year-old property at Brochdhu was once occupied by gamekeepers until twenty years ago, when it was turned into a game store. It is now undergoing an £80,000 ($140,000) refit, which involves ripping the whole of the inside out and refurbishing everything, including adding a new roof.

Some commentators have remarked on the new bath, which accommodates two. But here at Royal Anecdotes we refrain from such gossip.

An Insider commented: “William and his girlfriend spent ages looking round the place last year.”

“Apparently they thought it would make a nice holiday home as the cottage they currenty use never gets the sun. This house gets the sun all year round.

“The whole of the inside of the building is being ripped out and a new roof put on as well as a complete refurbishment of all the bedrooms and bathrooms. It will look superb and will offer the couple all the privacy they need.”

There’s speculation that when the couple are not using the cottage, it may be let out as a holiday home.
